Have you been thinking of getting a teacup Yorkshire terrier as your playful companion? If you are, then there is probably one thing going on in your mind right now, and that is how to get to know about someone who breeds teacup Yorkies, so that I can get a cute little teacup Yorkie for myself.
But before you proceed to look out for breeder you should know one thing that there is no such thing as a teacup Yorkies. You do not have any breeds of Yorkies that can be called teacup Yorkies or miniature Yorkies.
In fact the Yorkie breed is already classed as Toy breed anyway in the AKC, and there is most definitely no other definition for teacup Yorkies. Yorkies are by their very nature small in size and stature and although some of them can grow to a larger weight size, for the most part this will be uncommon.
Most of the Yorkshire Terriers that you would come across weigh between 4-7 lbs. And while anything heavier or larger is generally considered to be normal, Yorkies having a body weight of less than 4 lbs are considered to be underweight and abnormal.
However, there are many unscrupulous people who would try to fool you by resorting to use terms such as teacup Yorkie and they are doing this just to make a quick buck. This is one of the things that you need to remember while going out to buy a Yorkie. Any Yorkshire Terrier breeder who is reputed and respected in the community would never sell an underweight Yorkshire Terrier to you, whatever be the case.
If you are wondering how would the breeders know which terrier is going to be underweight, then you would want to know that they can determine this as they have years of experience in this profession and also they know that underweight Yorkies would be those who are the smallest in the litter.
And the reason why a good reputable Yorkie breeder won’t sell you “teacup Yorkies” is because most breeders take pride in their work. They know that such small teacup Yorkies will more than likely face many health problems over their lifetime.
This can cause a lot of heartache and emotional pain to those owners who are not prepared to deal with this fact. It can cost the owner of a teacup Yorkie a lot of money in order to keep its prized Yorkie in better health.
You are best advised to stay away from any person or breeder who is trying to sell a teacup Yorkie to you, no matter how much money is involved. These breeders are not at all genuine and specialize in breeding small sized Yorkies which are either suffering from health issues or may suffer from serious health disorders in the future and possibly maybe even certain kinds of genetic disorders.
