Having a hanging jewelry organizer is one of the best things that you can do to diminish clutter from your jewelry collection. Not only are they easy to make they are inexpensive to make as well. Today we will be learning to make one of these great space saving devices.
There is couple of materials that we need to gather up before we can begin on the construction of our hanging jewelry organizers. There are a few things that we need to collect before we can start to make the hanging jewelry organizer. The materials that we need are a piece of plastic or cloth sheet such as a tarp or bed sheet. A sharp pair of scissors, measuring tape, stick of super glue, sewing machine or needle and thread and or a hot glue gun, a coat hanger, and a pencil marker or piece of chalk.
After we have gathered all of the materials it is time to begin making our hanging jewelry organizers. The first thing that we will need to do is to cut the strips for our pockets to be made out of. The way that we go about doing this is to cut about ten strips of materials the width of the big piece of material, and the length of about four inches.
Once you have cut the strips it is now time to begin to add them to the large piece of material. The easiest way that I have found is to either hot glue or super glue the bottom edges of one of the strips onto the bottom of the large piece of material. After doing this begin sewing the bottom edge of the strip and sides onto the large piece of material.
The third step after sewing the strip to the material is to sew the lines for the pockets and add the rest of the strips. At this point in the project I usually look at what I am going to be putting in the hanging jewelry organizer to figure out how large or small I want the pockets to be. Once I finish this I measure the sewn strip and sew in the pocket divider with a vertical sewn line.
The final step is where we add the hanging part to hanging jewelry organizer. This is where we add the coat hanger to the main piece of material. At this point every one of the strips should be sewn into the large material and made into pockets. Once this is done cut a small piece of material and cut a hole just large enough for the hook part of the coat hanger to fit through. Once this is done hem the material around the hole as to provide tear support for the hanger when it holds the organizer.
