If you are in a plateau, your motivation is probably fading very quickly. After all, few people like to keep on working hard if they aren’t getting any type of payback.
The bad news here is that most fitness aficionados don’t know how to get out of a crushing plateau.
So, without further ado, here are some steps you can take to get out of a plateau:
1. Avoid cheat food: The concept that cheating can help with fat loss is ludicrous. Weight loss is ultimately controlled by calories in versus calories out. So if you have a cheat meal or an entire cheat day, those calories will have to made up for at some later point in time.
2. Ramp up your vegetable intake: This is the simplest, yet most effective thing you can do to speed up weight loss. You see, vegetables stabilize blood sugar while simultaneously decreasing hunger. And the best thing here is that they don’t have a significant amount of calories.
3. Decrease rest during your workouts: By decreasing how much you rest between exercises, the demands on your body will drastically go up. And a more demanding workout will increase calories burned by leaps and bounds.
4. Increase NEPA a lot: Non exercise physical activity is a great way to burn calories without stressing your body, unlike intense exercise. Theoretically, you should be able to do lots of NEPA with minimal impact on your body. Even better, it will help you recover quicker from your intense exercise.
5. Start logging what you are eating: Now you shouldn’t start taking exact measurements here. But get a general idea of eating patterns at this point. After about two weeks of doing this, slightly reduce the quantity of food you are eating.
6. If all else fails measure and weigh everything you eat: The good news is that you can’t falter with this approach, the bad news is that it can be very tedious. You shouldn’t have to do this indefinitely, however. Once you start losing weight again you’ll know how much you can eat while still losing weight.
You have no business remaining in a plateau. So make sure you get out of it today for the best results possible!
