It was fabulous the day I finally reached my goal of losing fifty pounds. I know there are many other people who have lost lots more but, this was my goal. I have to get some dress alterations done to a few of my articles of clothing.

I can thread a needle and that is as far as I can take sewing. My mother even tried to help me to learn all the various stitches and procedures. For some strange reason, I could not grasp these directions with my brain. I feel awkwardly hopeless.

Do it yourself information is available on the Internet and in book form. At my local library I was able to find a few books which gave me the basic instructions on sewing stitches. I did not know there are books on needles, how to stitch, types of stitches, and technique. I was fully surprised.

Please let me take a little bit of credit. One year my sisters had a quilting get together. All the women from their neighborhood came to lend their talents. I was amazed at how they stitched. I became enthralled and thought I could contribute. What a big joke that was. I could not do simple straight stitches without any help.

I eventually found a seamstress through my laundry mat. The manager noticed I had lost weight and we got into a conversation about reducing the sizes of my dresses. So, this ended up being a good resource for me. I have been able to get my dresses altered and have even asked that my slacks get the same treatment.

She is such a beautiful woman and her work is just as beautiful as she. I can take anything to her and she can change it just as I ask. Whether you are a man or woman, if you have no ability to sew, please take your item to a tailor. This way you will not ruin a prized article of clothing. My tailor is reasonable and does extraordinary work.
