3. Maybe he is bored and digs holes because of shear boredom. Try to take him for long walks every day so that he is away from his boring surroundings. He needs stimulation with new sights and sounds. He will soon build up an expectation to this and will gradually stop digging up your garden.

4. If you find that despite all your attempts you failed, then you might want to prepare a part of your garden for him. You will have to train him though to dig only in that area.
