Owning a cat with cat diabetes takes on a new level of care. All pet owners want their pets to enjoy long life, so we’ve compiled some tips to help you give your cat care that will help them live as long as possible. While it’s sad that cat diabetes is such a common problem, we know a lot about the disease since it also affects people. It is essential for a pet owner to learn about how diabetes can affect their cat, and what they can do to provide the best quality of life.
There are two primary types of diabetes. The similarities between human and cat diabetes make it easy to diagnose, and fortunately there are treatments. Type 1 Diabetes is a result of insufficient insulin production. Type 2 Diabetes is a result of the body not processing the insulin in the body efficiently. A secondary type of cat diabetes that is seen occasionally is triggered by drugs that may have impaired the body’s ability to naturally process insulin. Cat diabetes strikes cats of all ages, but most frequently it is seen in older cats.
Cats display symptoms that may tell veterinarians or pet owners of the onset of diabetes. These symptoms also have similarities with what humans with diabetes develop as the disease progresses. Cats may show frequent thirst and urination. With the body’s inability to process or handle glucose, diabetic cats may also experience weight loss. Other symptoms that may be associated with feline diabetes include vomiting, loss of appetite and general weakness. Diabetic cats may also have poor skin and coat condition as well as breathing abnormalities.
Cats experiencing any of these symptoms need to have a checkup with the vet. Taking your cat for a diabetes test can help determine if sugar levels are normal. The vet will take one reading and may decide to do a second reading for a true result. This is because some cats will have the sugar levels rise due to stress, giving a false reading the first time.
There is not a cure for cat diabetes right now, but through good cat care them symptoms can be controlled. Through diet and careful weight management, you cat can still live a happy life. Your vet may recommend a diet high in fiber, and containing complex carbs. Weight management is most important for extremely obese cats. Diet will not only help with weight, but will also normalize sugar levels.
Pet owners of diabetic cats may also need to carefully monitor their pet’s glucose and insulin levels. For those pet owners who resort to giving their diabetic cats insulin injections for their diabetes, care to avoid overdose should always be maintained. An overdose of insulin can be a very fatal condition in cats. There are also some dietary supplements that can be used to help diabetic cats deal with their condition.
Cat care and diabetes always go hand in hand to ensure that your pet cat can lead a normal life. Providing the right care for diabetic pet cats can make sure that pet cat owners can enjoy the company of their pet for as long as possible. The genuine concern that is shown through proper care given your diabetic cats demonstrates the love you have for your dear companion.

Make sure to be careful on what your are feeding to your dog. Their food should be carefully paid attention to, so that you are providing all their nutritional needs to them. It has been recommended for a long time not to feed table scraps to dogs. This is because it can make them gain weight.
Packaged dog food is made to watch the amount of fats the dogs are getting. Also you can get dog food geared for puppies, adults, or senior dogs. Each classification is geared toward the stage of development the dog is at.
Your dog also needs water given to it daily. They have hydration needs just like we do. On the market now are watering bowls with reservoirs attached that continuously feed water into the water bowl. This is an easy way to keep water out for your dog.
Brush and comb your dog to groom them as they need. Daily brushing can be done but bathing should be done maybe every two weeks, or when the dog gets overly dirty playing outside. Part of the dog’s health is their healthy coat.
Make sure your dog is getting enough doily exercise; you have a variety of activities to do with your dog that will provide the exercise. If you walk for your exercise just take your dog with you, he or she will love it. Fetching things like balls, sticks, or a Frisbee will do too; many times the dogs will run gleefully to retrieve these items. Swimming is another activity that a dog can do with you for exercise, whether it is a lake or a pool. There are various types of competitions that are regularly held for dogs to be put through their paces doing different tasks. There is now what is called dog parks, which are where dogs play with different dogs.
Make sure to take your dog to the vet for their annual checkup. A dog needs specific vaccines to prevent them from getting certain diseases as in rabies. You also need to make sure their teeth and ears are in good shape too. Without their teeth a dog has a hard time getting their nourishment. Their ears can get infected if they are not cared for properly. The vet helps you know how to take care of the special needs of your dog.
Follow the method outlined here and add plenty of love and your dog will live a longer life. Dogs become part of our families and losing one is very heartbreaking, so take good care of your dog today. This way they can be part of your family for many years to come.
Being a cat owner you’ll find a ton of things you should think about. An important thing is to get pet health insurance to make sure your pet is covered. Most owners of cats will go look for cheap cat insurance and get a bad policy plan. Don’t let the price be the only thing you look at.
Many people want to own a cat that will cuddle around their feet and warm their laps, a real forever companion. When choosing any pet, it’s best to do some research first. Looking into cat breeds and their characteristics, one can easily see why one of the most sought after pets is the rare mink Ragdoll kittens.
Ragdoll cats were created and defined as a breed in the sixties by Ann Baker. She took several different cat breeds, including the Persian, Burmese and Birman or ‘Sacred’ cats and combined them for their best traits. What she ended up with was the precursor to the modern day ragdoll. The ragdoll has many characteristics that set it apart from similar breeds. And any kitten in a ragdoll breed may be one of the rare mink ragdoll kittens.
There are different types of ragdoll cats. Traditional ragdoll cats can come in solid or pointed breeds. There are also non-traditional ragdolls, in non-pointed or mink breeds. All of these can be bred with several traditional patterns or colours. The rare mink ragdoll kittens show their colour at birth, whereas other ragdolls are usually white and come into their colour as they mature.
Colour point ragdolls will not have any white colouring on them. They are ‘point’ coloured because they usually have a darker shade on their ears, faces and paws. Mitted kittens will have black legs with white feet or boots, as well as having a white chin and ‘bib’ or front. Bi-colour kittens have an upside down V on their faces, with white chin, bib and legs. Any of these colours will show up in the rare mink ragdoll kittens as well.
There are many colours that ragdoll kittens can have. The chocolate or seal points will have varying shades of brown on the tips of their ears and on their legs and faces. They can also be ‘blue’ which means they are a shade of grey, or ‘lilac’ which makes them a pale shade of rosy beige. Some of them can be cream, or blue/cream or ‘flame’, which is a cream that is almost reddish in colour. Rare mink ragdoll kittens have their colouring at birth, which makes them easy to spot.
The one thing that ragdoll kittens do not share is eye colouring. Traditional ragdoll cats will have blue eyes, often called grey. Solid ragdolls can have several different eye colours and can even have two different coloured eyes. The rare mink ragdoll kittens though will always have blue green, green blue or better defined as aqua eyes.
Ragdoll cats are called ‘ragdoll’ for apparently two reasons. One is their colouring, which is reminiscent of the ragdolls of old that little girls cuddled up to. Another reason is their demeanor. Ragdolls, whether they are the rare mink ragdoll kittens or the solids or smokes or traditional, are all incredibly loveable cats. They are very social and don’t like to be left alone when young. These are very docile cats that also happen to be very floppy.
Ragdoll cats are very popular. Rare mink ragdoll kittens found in a litter are a prize find, because their fur is as soft as a lady’s mink stole. The popularity of these cats as a breed and as a family pet is rising. With their fabulous colours and great reputation, it’s easy to see why!

The furniture that one purchases for the cat might be sophisticated, but the cat might not find it more appealing than the furniture in the house. It is good to note the behavior of the cat before deciding to buy any furniture for it since they get bored quickly. The furniture to be bought must have many activity options for the cat to choose. Since cats love to climb, hide and scratch in dimly lit areas, a piece of furniture with stairs and platforms will be appealing for the cat. The cat’s age and how active it is also determines the type of furniture to be bought, for instance if it does not like climbing, then furniture with little steps suits it perfectly.
Choosing Furniture
Currently, there is a huge number of cat furniture found in the market. There are limitless options which cat owners have and it is therefore very easy for them to find a furniture piece to suit the cat. Finding furniture that is cheap is also very possible. There are a number of available, some of which include:
Cat Houses
Cats that enjoy staying out doors can do well with a strong house. The cat house should be able to withstand the outdoor elements. Moreover, it should be comfortable and safe for the cats since this will be their home.
Cat Perches
Cats naturally love to climb on things; the only solution one has to prevent the cat from messing things around the house when climbing on them is by buying a cat perch. This enables the cat to monitor the surroundings and still remain in its comfort zone. For cats who seek to go outdoors, a window perch would be the ideal piece of furniture.
Cat Beds
Even though cat beds may not provide stimulation for the cat, letting it have its own comfortable bed works for its own good and well being.
Scratching Posts
Despite the fact that one can be able to make a scratch post easily, it is possible for a cat owner to purchase one from the local animal store easily. The post plays the major role of ensuring that the cat does not mess things in the house by scratching on them and it is also one way of saving money by not incurring unnecessary expenses.
Cat Condos
A number of cats are able to enjoy resting in a place that has been enclosed and therefore a condo serves that purpose well. A condo is able to offer a hiding place and a sleeping spot. A variety of condos are available for one to choose; this depends on how much money one has to spend.
Pet Tents
It is good to carry the home of the cat wherever the cat is going. This is because they get uncomfortable with unfamiliar places so carrying their home along will make them feel more at ease in the new environment. If the owner of the cat is always traveling, then they can invest in a pet tent, which is easily folded and carried without distorting it. It can also be used in both indoors and outdoors.
As a cat owner buys cat furniture, it is important that the furniture chosen suits the house style without it looking strange or misplaced.
